Odd looking fish were Simon Kasudluak’s preferred subject matter. His sister, Sarah Meeko Nastapoka, has recalled that after making the sculptures he enjoyed scaring people with them. Lumpfish are bottom dwellers and only come close to the surface for spawning when they migrate south in the spring. They are an arctic fish but sometimes make it as far south as Nova Scotia.
